Mets fans aren’t happy with rival Braves supporters who cheered after first baseman Pete Alonso left the game with an injury. The slugger was hit by a pitch in the first inning of play on Wednesday.
The incident was the latest in an Alonso vs.
Atlanta saga that’s developed throughout this series.Earlier in the three-game set, Alonso went viral after smacking a home run on a hanging slider. “Throw it again,” the infielder chirped after rounding the bases and returning to the dugout.

On Wednesday, the drama continued with Alonso being hit in his first plate appearance. He would exit the game after the at-bat as the pitch hit him in his left hand.
To many viewers’ surprise, cheers were heard from the Braves crowd.

Mets fans were quick to comment to what they deemed a classless act.

Pete Alonso appeared to be in good spirits after the game, and he doesn’t believe there was ill intent behind the pitch. In fact, he said Charlie Morton
“Obviously, he didn’t mean to,” Alonso said in his postgame interview. “So, for people speculating, I just want to clear that up.”
The Mets would lose the game, 7-5.
