Since Monday night, football fans have found themselves wondering how the NFL will handle the suspension of the game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.

After days of debating what the correct solution is, it appears the NFL could be getting close to a decision.

There are major implications for playoff seeding in the AFC depending on what happens with the Bills-Bengals game and it couldn’t even impact who wins the AFC North. With all of that in mind, it seems the NFL has decided their best course of action is to not play the game at all.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio revealed that he is expecting the league to announce this afternoon that they are declaring the game a no contest.

Adam Schefter expressed a similar belief earlier in the morning, saying that the league believes the game has “bad mojo” and they just want to move on from it.

While this would answer how the game itself is being handled, there are still major questions about how they’ll make things work for seeding.

If the game just doesn’t appear on the teams’ records, the Chiefs would claim the top seed in the AFC as they would have 1 more win than the Bills. It would also eliminate the possibility of the Ravens winning the AFC North with a win over the Bengals.

There is still plenty to figure out about this unfortunate situation, but it looks like the NFL is starting to formulate their plan for how to proceed.
