Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis done screwed up.
The superstar couple caught heat this week after writing a letter defending former That ’70s Show costar and convicted rapist Danny Masterson.
Masterson was later sentenced to 30 years in prison for his crimes.
“While I’m aware that the judgement has been cast as guilty on two counts of rape by force and the victims have a great desire for justice, I hope that my testament to his character is taken into consideration in sentencing,” Kutcher’s letter reads.
“I do not believe he is an ongoing harm to society and having his daughter raised without a present father would a tertiary injustice in and of itself.”
Kunis also weirdly decided to cape for Masterson, even after all the facts of his case were revealed.
“I wholeheartedly vouch for Danny Masterson’s exceptional character and the tremendous positive influence he has had on me and the people around him. His dedication to leading a drug-free life and the genuine care he extends to others make him an outstanding role model and friend,” she wrote.
Unsurprisingly, their letters were not well received. But rather than stand behind their words, the two are now backtracking.

“We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson,” Kucher began.
Then Kunis took over.
‘We support victims. We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future,” Kunis then said.
(Do you, thought?)
Kutcher said that Masterson’s family reached out to ask them to pen the letters to represent the person that they knew for 25 years.
Kunis said that the letters were not meant to question the decision of the judge.
Unsurprisingly, the apology didn’t go over well either.
this might be one of the most cringe apologies ive ever seen. fire your pr people lol https://t.co/pXbIh1rhZ7

the thing is their letters didn't stick to their own experiences with him. They also made sweeping judgments about his character overall that directly contradict what he did to the victims. https://t.co/2lUCjVlNN0

Ironically that makes it worse imo. "Yeah we supported our rapist friend but we didn't expect the public to KNOW we did so we can still look like good people". Please go to hell https://t.co/CVXfHG4z3M pic.twitter.com/LQ6sWQg00e

Yeah, maybe just don’t defend the convicted rapist next time? But hey, what do we know?
