From November 7, 2010 to November 10, 2013, Bella Thorne and Zendaya starred in 75 episodes of the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up.
Since the show’s cancellation, 22-year-old Zendaya has gone on to star in Disney’s K.C. Undercover (where she was also a co-producer), HBO’s Euphoria, The Greatest Showman, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Spider-Man: Far from Home.
21-year-old Bella Thorne’s post-Shake It Up acting career has included the lead role on Freeform’s Famous in Love and a plethora of low budget movies including The DUFF, Big Sky, Shovel Buddies, Amityville: The Awakening, Midnight Sun, and I Still See You, which grossed $1,359 in the United States and Canada.
Two very different career paths indeed.
And now, the two former Disney Channel co-stars’ career paths will take a whole new turn in different directions when Bella Thorne makes her movie directorial debut with a film titled Her & Him… for Pornhub. That’s right.
Yes, it’s already got a trailer featuring the film’s stars Abella Danger and Small Hands, and according to Pornhub vice president Corey Price, “Her & Him is a modernistic, sexually explicit Romeo and Juliet-like depiction of two star-crossed lovers who have unbridled sexual longing for each other.”
“What inspired me to make the movie was basically thinking about this relationship between a male and a female, and this fight over dominance and how much that relates to us in our general world besides in a sexual scenario,” Thorne says in a video interview to promote the film.
Thorne added that her initial idea was to create a Christmas horror movie, but instead it turned into a “beautiful, ethereal film.”
“The process of shooting was quite interesting because we had real life f**king on set, which I had never shot before at all,” Thorne noted in the interview. “It is quite a fun environment.”
And if you’re not into all of that, Thorne really doesn’t care, “If you think that porn is uncomfortable, I’m sorry that you are uncomfortable. But don’t make other people feel uncomfortable for being okay with it.”
Him & Her will debut at Germany’s Oldenburg Film Festival which runs from September 11 to 15.
