Deion Sanders Made Bowl Promise To Tiny Crowd At Colorado Spring Game As Shedeur Dismissed Concerns

Colorado sold out its spring football game during the first year of the Deion Sanders era. That was not the case on Saturday for year two.

It was 39 degrees with a constant drizzle so the crowd was minuscule in comparison to the 28,424 tickets sold, which was actually the second-most in school history.

There was a big jump in attendance from 2022 to 2023. Coach Prime brought much-needed energy to a floundering program overnight.

Saturday’s attendance looked more like the previous regime than the current.

Even fewer people were in the stands by the time that the Buffaloes took their final snap of the afternoon.

Few people wanted to venture out in the subpar conditions. It was wet.

In terms of the on-field play, Colorado’s scrimmage looked a lot like last year. Shedeur Sanders made a few plays and showed why he is in pole position to be the first quarterback selected in next year’s NFL Draft. FAU transfer LaJohntay Wester stepped up in a big way at wide receiver.

Even though Travis Hunter Jr. made a few plays, the head coach’s son was highlight once again. Shedeur had the ball on a rope.

There has been a lot of turmoil around the program in Boulder over the last few weeks with players transferring out. The 22-year-old quarterback believes that it is actually a good thing!

Coach Prime continues to be the ultimate hype man. He likes what he has seen during spring practice and grabbed the mic to make a promise to the fans.

Sanders vowed to “get them to a bowl game.”

To make a bowl game requires six wins. Colorado had four last year.

This year’s schedule is even more challenging and it is hard to find the two additional victories.

vs. North Dakota State
at Nebraska
at Colorado State
vs. Baylor
at UCF
vs. Kansas State
at Arizona
vs. Cincinnati
at Texas Tech
vs. Utah
at Kansas
vs. Oklahoma State

At least five of the Buffaloes’ 2024 opponents will be ranked inside of the Top 25 to begin the year. Deion Sanders believes that six wins is the ceiling. We shall see.
