Tornado Touches Down At Tiger Woods-Designed Payne’s Valley Golf Course

The Tiger Woods-designed golf course Payne’s Valley is one of the nation’s great new golf courses. But, it went through a scary moment on Monday when a Tornado approached the course.

The course, located near Branson, Missouri, is definitely in an area that will see tornados occasionally.

Take a look at this video which very clearly shows the storm moving toward the golf course.

Imagine being on the golf course, having a nice round on this beautiful course, only to look over your right shoulder and see a tornado coming at you. That would be truly terrifying, and might test the theory that the worst day at a golf course is better than the best day at work.

As of Monday evening, it appears as if there are no reported injuries or major damage from the tornado. That’s always good to hear.

Payne’s Valley is named after the late Payne Stewart, one of Tiger Woods’ first friends on the PGA Tour. Stewart, known for his unique style of dress on the course as well as his three major championship wins, died in a plane crash on the way to the 1999 Tour Championship just months after winning the US Open at Pinehurst No. 2. Pinehurst is the site of next month’s US Open.

The course opened in 2020, and is a public course. It plays 7370 yards from the “Tiger” tees, and is a par 72.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods is in Louisville, Kentucky preparing for this week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla Country Club.
