Buffalo Bills Security Guard Nate Burnard To Be Featured On Power Slap’s Super Bowl Weekend Event, Reveals How His Football Skills Translate To Slap Fighting

The Buffalo Bills were eliminated from the NFL playoffs, but they still have one of their own competing on Super Bowl weekend.

Nate Burnard, a Bills security guard and former college football defensive lineman, is featured on this Friday’s Power Slap card airing live for free on Rumble from the newly opened Durango Hotel and Casino in Vegas.

We had the chance to speak with Burnard ahead of Power Slap 6 to talk about his opponent, Ryan Phillios, getting support from Bills players and how his football skills translate to slap-fighting.

So Nate, how do you feel about competing on Super Bowl weekend?

“Good. I’m ready, man. As soon as they told me it’s Super Bowl weekend, I’m locked in, man. I’m ready to go. I’m ready for a big crowd. It’s time to get it done.”

You lost your last match to the champion Damien Dibbell, what have you been working on in the past few months to bounce back?

“Honestly, just working on my chin, being able to make sure I have a sturdy base, I’m grounded, being able to work on my power as well and really just honing in deep inside myself to let that aggression out, let that beast out. So it’s time for him to come out.”

You played football in college, what skills from football do you feel translate well to Power Slap?

“I think it’s that just knack of aggression in football. I’ve played football all my life. Being able to, especially in the trenches as a defensive end, being able to see guys that are 6’7, 6’8 that I have to physically handle every single play, every single snap and being able to get past that, it’s all a mental thing. So putting that on the side with Power Slap and how it’s going to be, it’s the same thing. There’s just another obstacle in my way”

You work with the Buffalo Bills, have any of the Bills players given you support?

“Oh, yeah, definitely. I know Dalton Kincaid has reached out and gave me a lot of support. So has Dion Dawkins, Kingsley (Jonathan), it’s been awesome. Ed Oliver, these guys have been super supportive, and not even just the Buffalo Bills, but the people of Buffalo as well. They’ll come up to me, oh, you’re the slap guy. You’re the slap guy. I’m like, yeah.

“It’s awesome to get that support, but also awesome being able to give back to the community, that’s really what my biggest aspiration is with all of this, is being able to give back, and I’ve been able to do that this past Christmas by being able to host a charity event where we donate gloves and hats and toys and nonperishable food items and give it to women in children’s hospitals. So being able to do things like that, it’s been exciting and it’s know the biggest joy through all of this, to be honest.”

Tell us about your opponent, Ryan Phillips.

“Ryan Phillips. Good dude. I mean, we’re both East Coast guys. He’s in Ohio, I’m in Buffalo, New York. And just an overall good guy. I have nothing wrong. No problems with him.”

“He has a great chin, a phenomenal chin. His defense is awesome. Being able to withstand major shots to the face, and I feel that that his chin will be tested with my power. My power is undeniable. I know that. So that’s something that he’s going to be looking forward to.”

How do you envision your match with Ryan Phillips going?

“I mean, honestly, I envision a war. I envision shots to be given and shots to be taken. I know he doesn’t want to back down as much as me, so my vision is that there’s going to be a lot of power on that stage.”

I know the Bills are out. Do you have a pick for the Super Bowl?

“Nobody. They can keep it. The Bills should have been there. Nobody.”
