There have been very few teams in the NFL this season who have been as disappointing as the Denver Broncos. Entering the year with high expectations after a trade for Russell Wilson.
Unfortunately, the team hasn’t come close to living up to the hype, struggling offensively and losing 4 of their first 6 games.
The team has tried some interesting ways to try and fix their fortunes. They’ve brought in a coach to help with game-day decision making. They tried to let Russ cook. They benched Melvin Gordon. Unfortunately, it hasn’t helped.
Now, it has been reported that they have taken an even more extreme measure to try and help the team turn things around. According to a report from DNVR Broncos’ Zac Stevens, the team’s coaches have been sleeping at the facility as they try to address the team’s issues.

This is wild: Justin Outten and some of the Broncos coaches have slept in the facility the past three weeks.
They’ve fully committed to grinding to get the team back on track.

If this has been going on for a few weeks now, it clearly hasn’t been working. The Broncos played arguably their worst game of the year 2 weeks ago and then struggled against the Chargers last week.
Unfortunately, it’s not really clear how the Broncos can fix themselves right now. Their defense has still been great this season, holding 5 of 6 opponents under 20 points. They have weapons at receiver with Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton. Melvin Gordon is still a solid running back. They’ve already taken their big swing at quarterback.
For whatever reason, it just hasn’t all come together. It seems unlikely that more sleepovers will fix that for the Denver Broncos, but it’s clear they’re committed to figuring this out.
