New Video Suggests Shaq Lawson Lied About Being Threatened By Eagles Fan Before Altercation

NFL players know they’re going to be subjected to some hostile treatment when they face off against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, but Buffalo’s Shaq Lawson asserted one fan crossed the line prior to a heated altercation near the sideline. However, a video that was filmed in the lead-up to that incident doesn’t seem to support that claim.

You don’t need to be a diehard NFL fan to know people who cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t exactly known for championing the ethos of the City of Brotherly Love. The fact that many of those supporters wear that reputation as a badge of honor has created a bit of a vicious circle, but it’s kind of hard not to respect the passion.

Opposing players are never going to get a warm welcome when they’re doing their thing at The Linc, as every single person in an enemy jersey (including fans) is signing up to be subjected to some fierce heckling and harassment whenever they walk into the stadium.

Of course, there’s a limit to how far you’re allowed to go, and Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson asserted one guy who was sitting behind the Buffalo bench on Sunday made “life-threatening remarks” toward him and some of his teammates before he approached the man in question.

While Lawson does have a somewhat lengthy history of being unable to control his temper on the gridiron, most people were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt even though taking matters into your own hands in that particular situation tends to be something you want to avoid doing when you’re a professional athlete.

With that said, footage of what transpired before Lawson stormed toward the stands seems to undermine that assertion, as the guy in question can be heard screaming, laughing, and, well, not saying anything particularly threatening before things escalated.

It’s obviously worth noting something could have been said before the camera started rolling here, but if that was the case, you’d think Lawson would’ve snapped earlier or the security guard who was literally standing in front of the person filming would’ve stepped in.

There’s no way to definitively state Lawson is lying, but I’m much more skeptical of his claims after watching that.
