With the 2020 Masters finally here, it’s time to make our picks for the final major of the year. This year’s tournament is going to be unlike any Masters we’ve ever seen and is unpredictable given the new spot on the calendar in November as opposed to April.
While there won’t be patrons on the grounds, just like every year, there are plenty of remarkable storylines heading into the Masters that should make this an incredible week.
Yes, the Masters will always have a different vibe to it, but at the end of the day, only one golfer will sit atop the leaderboard and here are the guys we like, and don’t like, this week.Pick To Win
Bryson DeChambeau
I’ve been saying this for months now, and I’m certainly not the only one that’s been saying it, but I think what we’re about to witness DeChambeau do to Augusta National this week is going to be historic. No, I don’t think he’s going to win by 12 shots like Tiger Woods did back in 1997, but I do think the way he’ll play the golf course this week en route to a green jacket will be game-changing.
There is a reason he’s the favorite in the field this week. After what we saw him do to win the U.S. Open at Winged foot, just ignoring any trouble and making the track as short as possible, that gameplan should work extremely well at Augusta, which doesn’t have that much trouble to begin with.
As long as the putter doesn’t turn into an actual ice pick, DeChambeau will be there come Sunday.

Pick To Contend (Top 10 Finish)
Dustin Johnson
It’s tough not to pick DJ as the winner this week. The No. 1 player in the world’s game is in form and his past four finishes at the Masters are T-6, T-4, T-10, T-2.
Johnson has the length off the tee and has the shot-shaping with his high-cut working well at Augusta National, but it’s still the putter that I don’t trust, at least not enough to see him put on the green jacket on Sunday. When his putter is remotely warm, he’s extremely tough to beat, but even with his two T-6 and T-4 finishes in the new season he still just ranks 64th on Tour in strokes gained: putting. A Top 10 finish, sure, but he’ll have to wait another year to win his first Masters.

Pick To Fade
Rory McIlroy
I’m a big Rory guy, he will win a green jacket before it’s all said and done and accomplish the career grand slam, but I just don’t see it coming during a year without patrons. It just feels like McIlroy needs that extra boost from the fans on the grounds, I think Tiger Woods falls into that same category as well, especially on a stage like this.
McIlroy finished T-8 at the U.S. Open and has finished inside the Top 25 in his three starts in the new season, but beyond driving the ball well, the rest of his game just doesn’t seem to be at 100%. No, players don’t have to play perfectly to win at Augusta, but given the way his iron-play has been so far this season, I don’t think it just magically switches gears and comes around at the Masters.
