Drone pilot Kyle Moeller changed the game on New Year’s Eve. Gone are the days of people whipping out their iPhones to film fireworks and never look at those videos again.
Kyle Moeller has ushered in a new era of fireworks footage by capturing a drone’s perspective as the fireworks were exploding all around it.
And his videos on TikTok have gone viral as folks cannot get enough of the FPV drone’s perspective. It started with one video showing him just sitting in a chair with his viewing goggles on as he flew the drone through the fireworks. He teased the footage with this:
At that point it was hard to tell if the resulting drone footage would be epic or not but he delivered the goods after one of the viewers called him out for not sharing the final cut.

And last but not least, was this mashup showing both the drone flying through the fireworks and catching some skier action:

Fireworks videos are an easy target on the Internet. Everyone loves to rag on people who take videos of the fireworks and never watch them again. And that is a valid critique to a certain degree.
On this flip side, and this is entirely anecdotal, I’ve got people in my life who love fireworks shows. I’m rarely with them on the 4th of July or NYE and can always shoot them a short clip of the fireworks to show them what I’m up to. They appreciate it regardless of what conclusions might be drawn from this.
All that is to say that this article is for folks out there who like seeing videos of fireworks (once) and then don’t feel the need to ever watch them again. I see you. I’m one of you.
