The “boxing” match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has been rescheduled for November 15, according to Netflix.
The highly-publicized bout was originally scheduled to take place on July 20 but had to be postponed due to Tyson suffering from an ulcer flare-up on a recent flight.
“Unfortunately Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will not face-off on July 20 as planned. Tyson’s recent ulcer flare up has limited his ability to train fully for the next few weeks,” Netflix said in a statement.
“The fight will be rescheduled for a date later this year after Mike’s able to resume training with no limitations and both fighters can have equal time to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup!”
After the reports of Tyson’s health scare, Jake Paul’s brother Logan offered to step in to take Tyson’s place. Tyson, 57, is 30 years older than Jake Paul.
The boxing match between the pair will still be taking place at AT&T Stadium (a.k.a Jerry World) in Arlington, Texas.
Paul, who began his professional boxing career in 2020 by fighting YouTubers and retired basketball players, currently has a win-loss record of 9-1. Paul has begun to fight actual martial artists in recent years, such as former UFC fighters Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz.
He’s also taken on three professional boxers: Andre August, Ryan Bourland, and Tommy Fury (who handed him the only loss of his career in 2023).
As for Tyson, the former undisputed world heavyweight champion is not only considered one of the greatest boxers of all time but also one of the most dangerous. Tyson infamously bit off a piece of boxer Evander Holyfield’s ear during a 1997 fight.
