There’s absolutely no question that the late, great Stan Lee was a genius. Not only is Lee responsible for some of the most popular comic book characters of all-time, but the characters he created are responsible for ushering in a new era of entertainment, as Marvel Studios and comic book filmmaking have dominated the industry for the last decade-plus.
Essentially the co-creator of the entire Avengers roster, Lee had a hand inventing iconic comic book characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man.
Luckily for Lee — and all comic book fans across the globe — he was able to see all of those characters truly come alive in the twilight of his life thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He likely wasn’t surprised by the way his comic book world was ultimately fleshed out, as a recently unearthed quote from the legend himself back in the late 90s shows that he was already thinking about an MCU-like franchise (solo movies followed by team-up movies) back then.
The man was a visionary — then and always. Excelsior.
