In case you need another perspective to understand just how insane the United States of America is right now (and in general), all you need to do is take a look at the reactions of global soccer fans to the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, which has resulted in the country being compared to Qatar.

With the World Cup set to take place in North America — largely the United States, with the final taking place at MetLife Stadium — in the summer of 2026, the shooting in Kansas City has earned perhaps even more global scrutiny.

Soccer fans don’t seem particularly jazzed about the idea of the World Cup being hosted in the United States, with one tweet saying that it “cannot” be hosted here racking up over 185,000 likes (at the time of this writing).

Similarly, another viral tweet with over 75,000 likes (at the time of publication) posits that the United States should face just as much scrutiny as Qatar when it hosted the 2022 World Cup.

“The USA is NOT fit to host a World Cup. Guns all over the streets and they’re involved in various wars around the world. Qatar had neither and a lot of you wanted to cancel their World Cup because of their religious values, which led to the least crimes + arrests in World Cup history,” one Twitter user

.

“People had A LOT to say about Qatar hosting the World Cup. Please keep the same energy for the US. In two years they’re meant to be hosting it & man are gonna have to go out there walking around with bulletproof vests. SMH,” another concerned soccer fan

.

Two days removed from the shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, reports indicate that one person was killed and another 21 people, many of whom are children, were injured.

The opening match of the 2026 World Cup will take place on June 11, 2026, at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico.
