Fifteen-year-old golfer Miles Russell made history over the weekend while competing in the LECOM Suncoast Classic. He made the cut!
In the process, he became the youngest player to ever do so in a Korn Ferry Tour event. The performance has landed the youngster tons of fanfare, but he remains humble.
Russell is no stranger to success on the course. He’s already been named a Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2023, becoming the award’s youngest honoree.
The previous record holder? Tiger Woods.
He’s buoyed that production into major brand partnerships with the likes of Transcend Capital Advisors and TaylorMade, whom he repped on the links this weekend.
Russell continued to put his name in good company with his latest outing in Florida.
He teed off in the LECOM Suncoast Classic, and absolutely shined alongside the field of professional players. He tallied a first round 68 to open things up before shooting even lower in Round 2 (66).
That was good enough to not only put him just six shots back of the lead, but it also allowed him to make history. The news caught the attention of legends around the sport.

This is an amazing accomplishment. It’s great to see a young lefty playing such incredible golf.— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson)
Russell spoke on the accomplishment after the fact, remaining humble while addressing the media.
“That’s pretty cool, I did not know that,” he said in disbelief after learning about his record-setting feat. “I’m kind of speechless. The goal was to make the cut, and we made it, so we’ll see where the weekend goes.”
While he was clearly proud of that new mark, he placed focus on other young talents around the sport rather than shining the spotlight on himself.
“It’s a cool record to break, but I don’t know for how long. People are getting so good so young, so it could hold out for a week. You never know, but it’s pretty cool right now.”
Miles Russell had no idea he made history.

This was Miles Russell’s first pro event, so he’s batting 1.000 in terms of playing through the whole weekend. After making that cut, he set a loftier goal of finishing in the Top 25 of the field.
He’d do that and more!
The lefty wrapped up his tournament at -14 by shooting five-under on Sunday. That was good for a tie at the 20th spot on the leaderboard.
What a weekend!
