Paul Pierce Appears To Say The N-Word On ‘Undisputed’ As Ratings Continue To Crater

Former Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce has already been fired by one major sports network and could be on track to be let go by another.

On the Monday, May 13 episode of Undisputed, the 46-year-old Hall of Famer appeared to blurt out the N-word when speaking to co-host Keyshawn Johnson about New York Knicks shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo.

While the audio of Pierce is choppy, the general consensus on social media appears to be that he used the N-word.

The point about DiVincenzo was likely making was that he scored 25, 28, and 35 in the first three games of the series against the Pacers but put up just 7 points on 3-13 shooting in Game 4 on Sunday.

In addition to Pierce and Keyshawn, the current cast of Undisputed characters includes Michael Irvin, Richard Sherman, Rachel Nichols, Josina Anderson, and even rapper Lil Wayne alongside the now 72-year-old Skip Bayless.

After retiring from the NBA in 2017, Pierce joined ESPN as a studio analyst for their NBA programs The Jump (hosted by Rachel Nichols, who is also no longer with the network due to controversy) and NBA Countdown. In 2019, however, his role at the network was reduced due to an apparent lack of preparedness.

Then, in April 2021, Pierce was fired by ESPN after he live-streamed video of himself smoking and drinking at a poker game while scantily-clad women danced in the background.

Given the situation that Fox Sports 1 finds itself in with Undisputed, however, it’s unlikely this slip-up from Pierce will cost him his job. Back in late April, on the morning of the NFL Draft and a Los Angeles Lakers playoff game, Undisputed had just 45,000 viewers.

The morning debate show has been struggling ever since Shannon Sharpe left to co-host ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith and has shown no signs of being taken off life support anytime soon.
