LSU point guard Alexis Morris had a very interesting path to being selected in Monday night’s WNBA Draft.
After part of one season with Baylor, another with Rutgers, one more with Texas A&M and then two with LSU, Alexis Morris was selected in the second round by the Connecticut Sun.

Morris began her college basketball journey under coach Kim Mulkey at Baylor, but was dismissed from the program after an arrest. Baylor ended up winning the national championship that year.
Morris ended up finishing her college basketball career under that same Coach Mulkey at LSU, winning another national championship.
“Coach, we got it back. I appreciate you for giving me the opportunity. You’ve always been a winner in my eyes, ever since I was 12 years old,” Morris said after winning a title with Kim Mulkey at LSU. “It’s hard to explain the feeling. It’s kind of like, in a way, Coach Mulkey’s an amazing person. She knows how to get the best out of me. She’s been knowing me since I was a child literally.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to have the type of relationship with another coach that I have with Coach Mulkey because it’s special. It’s different.”
On Monday, as Alexis Morris fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams by being selected by the Connecticut Sun, she honored her late grandfather by wearing his tuxedo to the WNBA Draft.

“He always had the best suits, shoes, cologne, watches. He was a fly guy,” Morris told WBRZ News.
“I just kept it. I kept it for years,” said Alexis’ mom Matoya about the tuxedo before the draft.
“She was like, I don’t want to wear a tuxedo, and all I had to do was say on thing. I said it was popaw’s. And she said, ‘okay.’
“The tuxedo is probably older than she is, but I know she’s going to make it work.”
She most definitely did. What a comeback.
