This Colossal 8-Pound Meat Sandwich Sells For $375 At A Steakhouse In NYC

New York’s steakhouses have been engaged in a centuries-old game of one-upmanship. The city is home to some of the best steakhouses found anywhere in the world and it can be hard to stand out from the pack.

Some establishments beef up the wine cellar, others offer rare cuts of meat. There are steakhouses that throw crazy ingredients onto the plate like edible gold flakes and truffles, and then there are steakhouses that offer a singular crazy dish that brings in foodies from all across the globe.

The 8-pound, $375 BMT sandwich at NYC’s Benjamin Steakhouse Prime on 40th and Madison is definitely on the short list of New York’s most extravagant dishes.

This steakhouse sandwich is so over-the-top that it must be ordered 72 hours in advance:

So what goes into the $375 BMT from Benjamin Steakhouse Prime? The ingredients include a one-pound burger patty, one pound of bacon, one pound of filet mignon, caramelized onions, two pounds of Rib-Eye steak, sun-dried heirloom tomatoes, two pounds of New York strip, melted cheese, and focaccia bread.

All of this sounds divine but I’m not sure about the bread. I don’t know what bread might work better for this creation or if there’s even a better option out there, but it feels weird to eat pounds and pounds of NYC’s finest steak on focaccia bread.
