The New York Jets could well be pretty darn good in the upcoming NFL season.
In fact, if you ask oddsmakers, the Jets are going to be historically good in 2023-23.
New York is favored in 14 of its 17 regular-season games according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Gambling reporter Ben Fawkes claims that’s a record for the storied franchise.
The New York Jets are currently favorites in 14 games this season at @DKSportsbook.
That is the most games they've ever been a favorite in a single season in franchise history, dating all the way back to 1960 per @SOHistory

If the Jets were to go 14-3, it would be the most regular season wins in franchise history dating back to their days as the New York Titans, who began playing in 1960.
In fact, New York has never won more than 12 games in an NFL regular season. That mark was set in 1998 when the Bill Parcells-coached Jets lost to John Elway at the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
Loaded New York Jets Rosters Leads Oddsmakers To Predict Historic Win Total
This year’s optimism makes a ton of sense. New York has a talented roster led by superstars Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner. Offseason additions such as Haason Reddick and first-round pick Olu Fashanu sure up key positions, and it feels like the most normal offseason the Jets have had in years.
But as we all know, that can disappear in a flash.
New York had high hopes prior to the 2022-23 season. Then Rodgers tore his achilles just minutes into the first regular season game.
Jets fans are so scarred that they’re even calling for backup QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Rodgers, however, has big goals for his second season with the organization.
“Anything in this building that we’re doing individually or collectively that has nothing to do with real winning needs to be assessed,” Rodgers said in January. “If you want to be a winning organization and put yourself in position to win championships and be competitive, everything that you do matters. And the bulls— that has nothing to do with winning needs to get out of the building.”
The hype is certainly there. Now it’s just a matter of whether the Jets can deliver. History is certainly not on their side.
