After calling Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce “Mr. Pfizer” during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is being called a hypocrite.
The reason that the 39-year-old Rodgers — who trusted doctors enough to operate on his torn Achilles — is being called a hypocrite is because he plays for and is paid by the New York Jets, who are owned by Woody Johnson.
And Woody Johnson is, of course, the heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical empire.
One viral tweet also pointed out the fact that Rodgers took a $33 million pay cut earlier this summer, which is money that goes right back into Johnson’s pocket.Fox Sport 1’s Nick Wright said something similar,
In addition to his unprovoked shot at Kelce, Rodgers also said on The Pat McAfee Show that he is eyeing a return to the field this season, which is something that has never been done in the history of the NFL.
“There’s nothing normal about how I’m attacking this rehab,” Rodgers said. “The common practice is about six weeks in a boot, and I was in a shoe in 13 days.”
“This is just my mindset. I believe in the power of intention. I believe in prayer. I believe in your mental status and the power of will. I believe in making room for the miraculous to happen.”
Unfortunately for Rodgers, unless the 1-3 Jets can start stringing some wins together, there isn’t going to be any reason for him to return this year, regardless of whatever point he’s trying to prove.
This weekend, Rodgers’ Jets will be in Denver to take on the Broncos.
