For a long stretch of Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, it appeared as though Patrick Mahomes would be on the losing end of the scoreboard.

But, like he seemingly always does, the best football player on the planet pulled through, rallying his team to convert on three straight must-score drives, as the Chiefs won, 25-22, in overtime.

It was an exceptional second-half performance for Patrick Mahomes after a first half that saw the Chiefs only score three points. Three times in the final 12 minutes of regulation and overtime, the Chiefs trailed and need to score. Mahomes led them to points every single time, showing the incredible poise he has developed in his six years as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

The last two drives were simply exceptional. The 49ers went ahead on a go-ahead 53-yard field goal by kicker Jake Moody with 1:53 remaining in the game, 19-16. Mahomes calmly led the Chiefs down the field, nearly all the way into the end zone. Ultimately, they settled for a Harrison Butker field goal to send the game into overtime, but it was an impressive drive nonetheless.

After San Francisco kicked another field goal to open up overtime, Mahomes had the most memorable drive of his career. He led the Chiefs on a 13-play, 75-yard drive, using his arms and legs perfectly. When he found Mecole Hardman wide open in the end zone, Mahomes had his third Lombardi Trophy before his 29th birthday.

The Super Bowl LVIII MVP posed for a picture with his wife, Brittany, after the game, posing with the Lombardi Trophy.

That’s got to be one of the sweetest kisses possible on planet earth.

For the game, Patrick Mahomes was 34/46 for 333 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 66 yards on nine carries on the ground. Yeah, I’d say that’s pretty good.
