Creighton University is a Jesuit, Catholic school located in Omaha, Nebraska. Its men’s basketball team is really, really good and has a legitimate shot of making a run for the national title this season.
The Blue Jays made a major statement with a win over the weekend. However, their social media team was a little bit too excited for a university with such strict religious ties.
Eighth-ranked Creighton beat Alabama by three in an electric game that finished with 167 total points. The home team was victorious behind a dominant 55.8 field goal percentage.
Immediately following the game, its official X account posted a final score graphic to celebrate the win. In a direct shot at the Crimson Tide and their famous saying, the caption read “ROLL. DAMN. JAYS.”
But only for a moment! Such explicit language was apparently far too salacious for a Jesuit university.
The original post went up at 9:18 p.m. CT on Saturday night.

An edit to remove the “DAMN.” was made eight minutes later. The updated post says “ROLL. JAYS.”

For an extremely Catholic school to remove the cuss word, no matter how insignificant, makes sense. Damn is defined as: “to be condemned by God to suffer eternal punishment in hell.
”Creighton doesn’t need to be saying damn on social media, even if it’s complete harmless— which it is.
However, for such a minor edit to occur is rather hilarious. Someone saw the relatively tame cuss word and thought to bring it to the attention of a staffer involved with the program. Said person proceeded to panic. Amid the panic, he or she had to get access to the X account and make the change.
The Blue Jays were very fired up about the win over the Crimson Tide. Maybe too fired up!
