Emotional Video Shows International Football Player’s Incredible Reaction To First D-I Scholarship Offer

A scholarship to play college football is an honor that very few people ever receive, which makes it even more special for someone who comes from an international background. That was certainly true for Yahya Attia, who recently received his first Division-I scholarship offer from Campbell University.

Attia, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive lineman in the recruiting Class of 2024, plays for the NFL Academy. He is of Egyptian and Austrian descent.

The NFL Academy, which first opened in September 2019, aims to use American football to create life-changing opportunities for young people all over the world. Headquartered at Loughborough’s world-renowned center of sporting excellence in the UK, the elite football development program combines full-time education with training in the sport. Players are coached by multiple former NFL players and coaches with the hope of getting them to the next level stateside.

Essentially, it is the international IMG Academy.

Since its inception, more than 40 students have secured scholarships to play college football in the United States. Attia is one of them!

He recently received an offer to play for the Camels. His reaction was somewhere between total shock and pure bliss.

Attia immediately ran over to his teammates to share the news. They all went bonkers!

He was not the only one! Meshach Arthur is a Class of 2025 linebacker from the UK, and also received his first scholarship offer earlier this week. His team went equally as crazy after he hung up the phone with his mother.

The NFL Academy is providing opportunities for athletes who never could have dreamed of playing college football in the United States. Every new opportunity proves to be just as special as the last.
