Baker Mayfield Is Putting Together An Absolutely Incredible Resume As A Coach Killer In The NFL

There are plenty of bad quarterbacks in the NFL. In fact, there will always be plenty of bad quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s a numbers game. But the one label you absolutely want to avoid as an NFL quarterback is that of a coach killer.

Coach killers are quarterbacks that are so bad, so toxic, that everywhere they go they seem to leave behind a head coach that got fired.

One of the biggest examples of this type of player is former Washington Commanders/Las Vegas Raiders/Chicago Bears/Cleveland Browns/Cincinnati Bengals QB Jason Campbell.

Campbell left the following coaches in his wake: Jim Zorn, Tom Cable, Hue Jackson, Lovie Smith and Rob Chudzinski.

But Campbell has absolutely nothing on the league’s new Jeffrey Dahmer: Baker Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield Has Killed An Astonishing Four NFL Coaches In Five Years

Mayfield has been in the league just five years. The Cleveland Browns selected him with the first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. But the trail of blood he’s managed to leave in his path in that time is nothing short of incredible.

Mayfield began where many serial killers often do, following in the footsteps of those that came before him. He learned from Campbell and quickly dispatched of Hue Jackson in Cleveland. He then followed by taking out interim coach Gregg Williams. The rampant killer then turned on one of his biggest supporters, offing Freddie Kitchens in 2019.

But he wasn’t done yet.

Mayfield’s bloodlust wasn’t settled with Kitchens and he turned his attention to Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski, however, was aware of his tricks and quickly shipped the QB off to a desperate, unassuming Matt Rhule in Carolina.

But Rhule soon learned that if you make a deal with the devil, there is always a catch. And so it was that Rhule ended up axed on Monday, another victim of the Mayfield massacre.

If Panthers interim coach Steve Wilks knows what’s good for him, he’ll run for his life.
