The Georgia Bulldogs Acted Fast In Replacing Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken

There’s no question the Georgia Bulldogs are the premier program in college football right now. The Dawgs have gone 29-1 the last two seasons.

A big reason for that success has been offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Monken has eschewed the typical spread offenses that most college programs run and has instead loaded up on great tight ends and a dominant play-action passing game.

It led to great results. This year, Georgia was fifth in the nation in scoring offense. And, in the national title game, they scored 65 points against a woefully overmatched TCU defense.

But, it was announced today that Monken was taking the offensive coordinator job with the Baltimore Ravens.

Kirby Smart clearly knew who he wanted to replace Monken, as minutes after the announcement, Georgia had their man.

Bobo, a UGA alum, will be in his second stint at Georgia, as he was the offensive coordinator there from 2007 to 2014. He had a five-year stint as the head coach at Colorado State after his Bulldog tenure, and coached at South Carolina and Auburn before joining Georgia again as an analyst. The 45-year-old will inherit a lot of talent on the Georgia offense, including all-world tight end Brock Bowers. They figure to be the top-ranked team in the preseason as well.

Hopefully, for Bulldog fans, it’s a smooth transition.
