The 2022 season was a disappointing one for the Las Vegas Raiders.

They were coming off of a playoff appearance, added Davante Adams, and brought in a high-profile head coach, but ended up winning just 6 games.

One major culprit for the regression was the team’s defense.

They allowed the 7th most points per game in the league last year.

This offseason, the Raiders have been taking steps to change that.

They’ve signed Marcus Epps, Robert Spillane, Duke Shelley, and Marcus Peters so far this offseason and also drafted Tyree Wilson 7th overall.

Now it looks like they could try to make one more notable addition to their defense before the start of the pre-season.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, former Pro Bowler Jaylon Smith is working out for the Raiders today.

Smith remains unsigned after his contract with the New York Giants expired at the end of the 2022 season.

If he ends up in Vegas, he would help solidify their group of linebackers in spite of the seeming lack of interest in him this offseason.

After bouncing around in 2021, he ended the season with the New York Giants and went on to have a solid 2022 with them.

He made 88 total tackles for the Giants in his only full season with the team and added a sack and a fumble recovery.

Signing with the Las Vegas Raiders would reunite him with defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who was in charge of the Giants’ defense when he joined the team.

The Raiders have made some interesting moves late in the offseason and signing Jaylon Smith would be another one.
