Giannis Antetokounmpo is the reigning NBA MVP and one of the predominant basketball players on the planet, but he’s also pretty damn entertaining off the court, too. While the Greek Freak sits back and social distances himself like everyone else during this time, he’s finding new ways to engage with his fans and answer some of their questions.
It’s a cool idea and something that only helps his popularity.But Giannis got a little bit of a surprise when he was on a live stream with his girlfriend during a live stream recently — and his reaction pretty much said it all.
When asking his girlfriend the question “aside from the Bucks, what is your favorite team?”, she revealed something that Antetokounmpo literally couldn’t handle: She grew up rooting for the Lakers. Legit, the Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar’s mind was blown, and his jaw dropped in disbelief at what his ears just heard. Take a look below to see for yourself.

Considering Giannis Antetokounmpo’s girlfriend, Mariah Riddlesprigger, was born in Fresno, Ca. and her dad played college hoops at Fresno State, it sort of makes sense as to why she claims to have been a Lakers supporter when she was younger. Still, when your boyfriend is, arguably, the best basketball player on the planet and plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, it might be time to swallow your pride and lie about this. It’s sort of one of those things that ol’ boy probably doesn’t need to know — or at least find out about on a live stream.
Nevertheless, it did provide some good fun and (maybe?) a little drama during a time when sports fan are craving it the most. With Giannis set to become a free agent in the next year — and rumors already flying that he may be linked to both the Lakers and a few other California-based teams — something tells me this little revelation probably pissed off more than a few Bucks fans.
