Ryan Grubb Leaves Alabama For Seahawks Days After Telling Boosters He Was Staying

The Alabama Crimson Tide is officially back in search of an offensive coordinator.

Just days after telling the Tide’s most important boosters that he was going nowhere, Ryan Grubb met with the Seattle Seahawks and agreed to become their new offensive coordinator under head coach Mike MacDonald.

Grubb was seen with MacDonald and Seahawks’ general manager John Schneider at a Seattle-area restaurant late Friday evening.

Shortly after that photo surfaced on Twitter, ESPN’s Adam Schefter

that Grubb had taken the offensive coordinator roll in Seattle.

Grubb is one of the nation’s top offensive minds. He helped lead the Washington Huskies to the national championship game in 2023. The Iowa native then followed head coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama.

But weeks after moving to Bama, rumors began to fly about Grubb’s future.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that Grubb could immediately return to the Pacific Northwest as the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks.

But then he met with Alabama’s famed  Red Elephant Club (the most exclusive booster society in college sports).

“I’m Ryan Grubb, I’m your new offensive coordinator,” he told the boosters, seemingly shutting down all speculation.

But words are just that, words. And about 72 hours later, Grubb is on his way back to Seattle and to the NFL.

Now DeBoer is left yet again having to fill one of the most important roles on his staff.
