The sports world, and when we say “world” this time we actually mean it, was stunned when new Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani announced out of the blue that he had gotten married.
Many fans, including those in the sports media, didn’t even know that the international baseball star was even dating anyone, let alone engaged.
How did one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet manage to pull that off? No one quite seems to know, but he did.
Perhaps even more incredible is the fact that he made this announcement on social media on February 29th and not a single internet sleuth out there was able to figure out just who in the world did Shohei Ohtani marry?

Now then, who exactly is Mamiko Tanaka?
According to her FIBA profile, Mamiko Tanaka, who also goes by Mana, is 5-foot-11 and was born on December 11, 1996, making her 27-years-old. (Ohtani is 6-foot-4 and 29-years-old.)
AsiaBasket.com says she was not drafted when she became eligible for the WNBA in 2018, and plays power forward and center for the Fujitsu Red Wave in the WJBL (Women’s Japan Basketball League), the top women’s basketball league in Japan.
In 2022-23, Tanaka averaged 7.8 points per game on 47.7% shooting from the field.
