Hailey Van Lith And Haley Cavinder Team Up To Form Women’s College Basketball’s Most Popular Backcourt At TCU

Former Louisville and LSU guard Hailey Van Lith officially has a new school, and it’s one that will make a lot of fans extremely happy.

Van Lith committed to TCU on Thursday, joining a Horned Frogs squad that is very much rebuilding.

That comes after one year at LSU that didn’t go according to plan for the superstar. Van Lith averaged just 11.6 points and 3.6 assists per game for the Tigers after averaging 19.7 and 3.2 for the Cardinals the year prior in a season that saw her named first-team All-ACC.

But there’s a bigger story here.

Van Lith is also set to team up with fellow star Haley Cavinder.

Cavinder committed to TCU several months ago. She and sister Hanna missed the 2023-24 college basketball season after announcing that they would forgo their final years of eligibility.

But plans change, and Haley is now one-half of perhaps the most popular backcourt in all of college hoops. While Hanna recently announced her return to the University of Miami for her final season.

Not only are Cavinder and Van Lith two huge additions on the court for the Horned Frogs, but they’re also two of the nation’s biggest stars off the court.

Van Lith has over 1.1 million followers on Instagram, while Cavinder has 842 thousand.

But Cavinder and Van Lith may not even be the most popular players on their own team.

TCU center Sedona Prince averaged 19.7 points and 9.7 rebounds for the Horned Frogs a year ago. Oh, and she has a jaw-dropping 2.7 million followers on her TikTok page.

An injury crisis derailed a once-promising 2023-24 season for TCU. But regardless what happens next season, it’s clear that the Horned Frogs will be must-watch television.

UPDATE: Within about two minutes of this article going live, Haley Cavinder announced that she is leaving TCU and will return to Miami to play alongside her sister Hanna for her final year of college eligibility.

But hey, the Horned Frogs are still worth watching. And Van Lith and Prince still make up one of the nation’s best duos.
