Pedro Pascal, The Mandalorian, May Not Appear In The ‘Mandalorian & Grogu’ Movie

Pedro Pascal is, as the kids say, booked and busy these days.

Not only does he have upcoming roles in the Gladiator sequel (due out later this year) and the second season of The Last of Us, but he was also recently announced as the lead of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four, as he’s set to play Reed Richards/Mr.

Fantastic in the 2025 film.

The Fantastic Four isn’t Pascal’s only massive Disney-based franchise role, as he’s also been starring as the titular Mandalorian in The Mandalorian since 2019.

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm announced that Mando and Grogu’s next adventure would be in a movie, with The Mandalorian & Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau, to begin production this year.

Because of Pascal’s newfound Marvel commitments, however, it’s now unclear whether or not he’ll even “resume his role” as the famed galactic bounty hunter with a heart of gold.

With a new Fantastic Four, Gladiator 2, and a new season of The Last of Us on his dance card, it is unclear right now if SAG Award winner Pedro Pascal will be resuming his role of Din Djarin and teaming back up with the charming Baby Yoda for the Mandalorian movie. [via Deadline]

The Mandalorian & Grogu, as is the upcoming Rey-focused move, is an utterly bizarre way for the franchise to move its film projects forward considering that the last season of The Mandalorian was nowhere near as well-received as the first two, with many fans complaining about the series feeling watered down.

As for the Daisy Ridley-starring Rey movie, while the actress and the character are largely well-liked by the fanbase, the taste left in the mouth by The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 makes returning to the lead character from that trilogy a risky proposition, especially considering how derided the final moments of that film are.

In addition to The Mandalorian & Grogu and the Rey film (directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy), Lucasfilm also has a movie from Logan and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director  James Mangold in the works, and another movie from Dave Filoni.
