Brooks Koepka ripped into one of his competitors following his final round at the Masters. The controversial star targeted at least one player from the group playing ahead of him on Sunday.

Koepka said that the pace of play was “brutally slow,” insinuating that both he and group mate Jon Rahm were growing frustrated with waiting.

Christopher Powers, a staff writer at Golf Digest,

Koepka about those frustrations after his fourth and final wrapped up. The Masters runner-up responded by saying, “That group in front of us was brutally slow. Jon went to the bathroom 7 times today, and we were still waiting. So yeah.”

The group ahead of Rahm and Koepka included Patrick Cantlay and Viktor Hovland. Most immediately pointed to Cantlay as the reason for the long wait.

Cantlay posted a score of +3 on his final round, recording six bogeys to delay his already slow pace. Fans commented on his lengthy rounds on social media.

There were even videos circulating of his group partner, Hovland, shooting a few shots ahead as Cantlay strolled slowly in the background.

When all was said and done, Cantlay finished the tournament in 14th place. His +3 on the final round put him at -3 for the weekend. The group behind him, meanwhile, finished No. 1 and 2 with Rahm winning his first Green Jacket on Sunday.

Brooks Koepka led entering Sunday’s final day, but he shot three strokes above par on his last round. Maybe pace of play contributed to that outcome as he just missed out on a Masters championship.
