NBA viewers are uniting for one singular cause this playoff season relating to an AT&T ad that’s been played repeatedly during breaks in the action. Team loyalties have been put aside with fans of all franchises putting down their swords to voice their annoyance with the monotonous commercial.
The advertisement is one that features Oklahoma City Thunder stars Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The scene is innocent enough with the duo discussing a personalized phone plan while leaving their hotel.
During that conversation, the teammates break out into song with a play on Christina Aguilera’s “What a Girl Wants.”
It’s an ad that might not land much attention if played on a semi-regular basis.
Unfortunately, that’s not been the case this postseason. The commercial airs seemingly at the start of every single break, forcing viewers to listen to the jingle non-stop.
And just when the earworm finally leaves your brain allowing you to focus on the basketball game, it’s back again.
The frequent showings are causing NBA viewers to literally lose their minds. Many have used social media to vent frustrations.

The ‘What A Pro Wants’ ad might actually be causing fans to hate the Thunder.

Mike Golic Jr. touched on this topic Monday morning after seeing the online reaction from basketball viewers.
“The only headline bigger than anything on the court that I saw over this weekend… was people seeing this commercial and going into a blind rage,” he said on his GoJo and Golic podcast.
“It seems like that is the only commercial that’s allowed to run during the postseason.”
Has the What A Pro Wants commercial made you LESS likely to root for SGA & OKC?

Unfortunately for fans, we’re still in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, meaning we’ll have to hear this tune for at least another month. Go ahead and get familiar with that mute button!
