- Dog owners are creatures of habit just like their dogs but switching to a hands-free dog leash offers a lot of freedom from traditional dog leashes
- Zee.Dog hands-free dogs leashes are industry-leading adjustable leashes that can be worn around the waist, over the shoulder, or carried as a regular leash
- I put the Zee.Dog Hands-Free Leash to the test by walking my Bernese Mountain Dog with a new leash for the first time in 9 years and I was wildly impressed
Dog owners are creatures of habit just like their dogs, myself included. I’ve been walking my Bernese Mountain Dog 3-5 times a day for the past 9.5 years using the same leash.
Why fix something that isn’t broken, right? Well, if we’re being perfectly honest my dog’s collar has actually been broken for about 3 years but it still works and it has sentimental value so I’ve been resistant to change until now. I recently tried out a Hands-Free Dog Leash from Zee.Dog and now see that change can be great.
I’m not talking about ‘change’ like changing your dog’s food where you do it a quarter scoop at a time and it takes two weeks, that’s a pain. The switch to an industry-best hands-free dog leash from Zee.Dog is simple and well worth it.
The Zee.Dog Backstory
Before we talk about the pros of using a hands-free leash let’s talk about Zee.Dog. The company was founded in Brazil back in 2012. They now sell in 42 countries and have flagship stores in SoHo, New York and São Paulo, Brazil. The eye-catching skull logo represents ‘eternal, unconditional love’ and the name pays homage to the “Z” in Zeca and the Z-Boys from Dogtown. So there’s some actual meaning behind the design which isn’t always the case these days.
They have done collaborations with Star Wars, Nintendo, Disney, legendary designer Jeff Staple, and many others. Browsing their website I was tempted to pick up one of The Simpsons designs. There are some really cool ones on their website.

The Zee.Dog Hands-Free Dog Leash
I mentioned before that I’ve used the same dog leash for nine years and that wasn’t an exaggeration at all. My Bernese Mountain Dog (Millie Grace) turns 10-years-old in six weeks and I’ve been using the same leash since she was a year old. The collar broke a few years ago. It still clips but one of the two prongs that clip in is busted. I’m LONG overdue for a change so why not mix it up with a hands-free leash from Zee.Dog, right?
Calling it a hands-free leash is a bit of a misnomer because it’s really a 3-in-1 dog leash. You can choose to go completely hands-free and wear the leash around your waist, it can be worn as a sling over the shoulder, or it can be held as a normal leash. The Zee.Dog Hands-Free Leash retails for $39.99 on their website and is available for purchase in Space Grey, Neon Coral, Army Green, Deep Blue, and Gotham.
One feature that really impressed me is how lightweight the rope is. My dog’s pretty sizable. It’s classified as a ‘large’ breed and I need a substantial leash. The fabric is very strong but also lightweight. It didn’t weigh me down at all while walking my dog but was also plenty strong to get ahold of my pup when she’d catch a scent in the bushes and try to pull.
The metal hook is super easy to open and close with one hand and the E.Zee buckle enables you to hook the leash up to any table or tree if you want to chill out for a while with your dog. My dog’s turning 10 this year and doesn’t get down at brunch as hard as she once did but there’s still some pep in her step. And it’s great to have that feature.
Another lingering reason I’ve been resistant to change all these years is I really, truly loved the design of my dog’s leash. Yes, it had sentimental value after nearly a decade but it also looked damn good. And so do these Zee.Dog collars and hands-free leashes. They have over 45 collar designs to shop through on their website ranging from classic to modern designs. I’m confident you’ll find a handful that you like before choosing a favorite.
The Zee.Dog collars range from $15.99 to $24.99. They are sold in sizes that match traditional dog breed sizes (XS, S, M, and L).
