Sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you plan it. For example, you correctly predict that Zion Williamson would play for the Pelicans despite being a game-time decision in the NBA’s first game back, but you forget about the fact that the head coach for New Orleans is Alvin Gentry, who owns a career head coaching record of 480-553, still doesn’t seem to have his head wrapped around this whole coaching thing.
Why Williamson wasn’t on the floor for the final possession and played just 15 minutes is beyond me, but a loss is a loss. We start 0-1 on the new-look season, but we’re coming with two winners for the weekend’s slate of games.

The Pelicans and Clippers sit 4th and 5th, respectively, in points per game averaging 116 per contest. Neither team scored over 110 in their first games back on Thursday, but those numbers should rise back up to that average with one game under their belt. Plus, how can you honestly bet the under in a game featuring Zion, who should get more minutes on Saturday, and Kawhi Leonard?

We’ve got two different styles clashing here as Miami relies heavily on the three-point shot, while Denver, not so much. The Heat leads the league in three-point shooting percentage, but if things get cold from behind the arc, that’s where things can go south, quick.
The Nuggets are arguably one of the deepest teams in the league led by Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray who went for 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists in this season’s earlier matchup with the Heat. Denver is the better overall team therefore giving up the two points in the spread shouldn’t shy you away.
