It was a week of turmoil for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and precocious wide receiver George Pickens. But, both Pickens and his team silenced plenty of the doubters as he had a huge day in the Steelers’ season-saving 34-11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
George Pickens had a monster day, catching four passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns from Mason Rudolph, who was starting his first game of the year.
The second-year player’s career game started early on, as he housed a slant on the team’s second play from scrimmage.

Alright, cool. One-hit wonder, right? No. Pickens had an incredible toe-tap catch later in the first half.

He had over 100 yards at halftime, but kept going with another huge play in the second half for his second touchdown.

This was a huge redemption game for Pickens, as he’s taken a lot of heat in the past week after a video of him refusing to block for teammate Jaylen Warren on a run that should’ve been a touchdown went viral.
Pickens’ explanation that he was trying to avoid getting injured did not sit well with hard-nosed Steelers fans. The team’s diehard fans were already fed up with a three-game losing streak in which the team has looked pathetic. That was just icing on a very bad cake.
But, the vibes are good now. The Steelers are now 8-7, and very much alive in the AFC Playoff Picture when it seemed like their season was basically over after last week’s loss to the Colts. And, George Pickens is a big reason why.
