Texas Tech Fan Literally Carried Out Of Stands By Cops After Wild Scene Unfolds During Rivalry Game

Texas Tech and Texas faced off in a rivalry showdown on Tuesday night, and we were treated to a pretty chaotic scene courtesy of a foul that led to a player being sent to the locker room and a fan being carried out of the arena by a crew of police officers.

The Texas Longhorns have historically had the edge against their foes in Lubbock on the basketball court, as the team headed into their most recent showdown boasting an all-time record of 81-64 in a rivalry that stretches back to 1958.

However, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have had the upper hand over the past few years, as they’d won seven of the last ten games against Texas and were expected to come away with another victory in a game where they were listed at 3.5-point favorites.

However, the Longhorns were able to flip the script on the road by pulling out to a double-digit lead toward the start of the first half, and they never really looked back. With that said, the game still featured a fair amount of drama thanks to what transpired with around 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Texas had a 65-40 lead when Longhorns forward Brock Cunningham hit Red Raiders guard Darrio Williams with a fairly violent body check while scrambling for a loose rebound, which led to a brief scuffle that was thankfully defused pretty quickly.

The fans in Lubbock understandably took exception to the foul (which led to Cunningham being ejected following a review), and the frustrations that were already simmering courtesy of their team’s 25-point deficit boiled over as a number of spectators threw objects onto the court.

At that point, one fan in the student section came to the attention of the security guards and police officers

but apparently got a bit too defensive when he was accused of contributing to the chaos that led to Texas Tech coach Grant McCasland picking up a microphone to inform fans the team risked being hit with a technical foul for every object that was tossed onto the court.

The dust eventually settled, and Texas walked away with the 81-69 victory.
