I’m not sure many in America associate the state of Wisconsin with culinary excellence. But, if they know one thing, it’s cheese. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Bo Melon has found that out in his time in the Badger State.
Their most famous cheese-related dish are probably fried cheese curds. And, if you’ve ever had authentic Wisconsin fried cheese curds, they’re incredible.
It’s such a simple culinary delight. Basically, cheese curds are curdled milk that cheese culture is added to. After cooking, it removes the whey, and becomes a perfect bite of creamy, cheesy flavor. They’re pretty tasty out of the refrigerator, to be honest.
But, like everything else in America, they’re even better deep-fried. Cooked golden brown, it’s like a better version of a mozzarella stick that can be consumed in one bite.
Bo Melton has joined many in loving the delicacy, even though they make him sick.
Packers WR Bo Melton said he can't help but eat cheese curds even though they make his stomach hurt.
The legend grows.

It’s unknown if he prefers raw cheese curds or fried. But, if they’re fried, it has the double stomach whammy of dairy and fried foods that can certainly wreak havoc. But, that’s why they make Lactaid and TUMS, I guess.
Melton figures to be a big part of the Green Bay offense this year. After going the 7th round in 2022, he spent most of that year with the Seahawks before joining the Packers organization. Last year, he spent most of the year on Green Bay’s practice squad before having a breakout 100-yard receiving game in a crucial week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings. Then, he caught a 19-yard touchdown pass against the 49ers in the Packers’ devastating loss in the NFC Divisional Round.
With new NFL kickoff rules making kick returners have increased value, Bo Melton seems primed to be one of the league’s best. He was dynamic in the return game at Rutgers, and it seems likely that Green Bay will want to use him in that way .
That’s if he can lay off the cheese curds.
As for Wisconsin’s obsession with cheese, the state is the the host of Bravo’s Top Chef this season. It’s been very cheese-centered.
