It’s been close to three months since we last saw Antonio Brown on an NFL field, as he was unceremoniously released by the Patriots on a Friday afternoon after multiple women came forward in September to accuse him of sexual misconduct.
As we learned during his time in Pittsburgh and Oakland, the wide receiver is no stranger to drama and he’s spent his de facto suspension stirring the pot in an impressive number of ways, whether we’re talking about the time he fired a shot at Vince McMahon or when he did the same to Robert Kraft before deciding to issue a half-assed apology and eventually reversing course when he ripped the Patriots owner once again earlier this week.
As a result, Brown probably won’t be playing home games in New England at any point in the near future, and while it’s not entirely clear if the NFL is willing to welcome him back to the league as it continues to conduct an investigation into the aforementioned accusations, at least one person in the know thinks there’s a solid chance he could end up in Dallas before the season wraps up.
While the embattled player has dedicated a solid chunk of his free time making ill-advised decisions on social media, he’s also been doing what he can to stay at the top of his game and has provided the world with steady updates concerning his conditioning—including a couple of videos that show him burning a guy tasked with defending him (although there is a chance the defender in question was just some dude who got picked off of the street to make him look good).
Now, Brown has returned to Instagram with yet another workout video showcasing his catching skills and it looks like he’s still got it.
At first glance, it might not seem that impressive, but if my calculations are correct (which is admittedly a big “if”), he managed to cover about 45 yards in a little over six seconds all while tracking down a pass and wearing some equipment (for reference, he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the 2010 combine).
Brown is currently embroiled in a court battle with one of his accusers and it doesn’t seem like the NFL is in any rush to wrap up his inquiry, but if he manages to clear his name, something tells me he won’t have too much trouble finding a new home in the league.
