Scottie Scheffler Will Have To Wait To Learn His Fate After Arrest At PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler‘s long and bizarre week in Louisville, Kentucky for the 2024 PGA Championship is finally behind him.

But the misdemeanor and felony charges he picked up in the process won’t be going away anytime soon.

Scheffler’s arraignment was initially scheduled for Tuesday. There’s no word on whether he’ll now have to return to Louisville in two weeks for the court proceedings.

Reports Suggest Charges Against Scottie Scheffler Will Be Dropped Before Arraignment

Previous reports suggested that all charges against Scheffler would be dropped.

According to a source familiar with the office’s thinking, Jefferson County prosecutors are planning, as of now, to drop the charges against Scottie Scheffler early next week. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 am on Tuesday,” Kevin Van Valkenburg of No Laying Up

Sunday.

Now it appears those plans have changed. Though the delay could allow more time for the charges to be dropped before the arraignment hearing.

The reigning Masters champ and world No. 1 faces charges second-degree assault of a police officer (a felony), third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic after a mishap prior to Friday’s second round.

Scheffler allegedly disobeyed direct orders from Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Bryan Gillis.

The police report from the incident states that Scheffler drove against the flow of traffic and disobeyed direct orders from Gillis.

Gillies claims he then stopped Scheffler and attempted to give him instructions but Scheffler did not comply, instead accelerating and dragging Gillis along with him.

Scheffler’s account of the incident differs. As does that of eye-witness Jeff Darlington of ESPN.

Detective Gillis also violated policy by not having his body cam on at the time of the incident.
