The Lakers’ season is not going as planned.

When the franchise added the trio of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis, many thought they’d be competing for another title.

Instead, they currently sit nine games below .500 with NBA Playoff hopes slipping.

Westbrook has been a complete bust. Davis can’t stay healthy. James can’t do it all.

The team boasts former MVP caliber players Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony, too, but it seems nearly everyone on the roster is now past their prime.

Los Angeles’s preseason championship aspirations have become a thing of the past. The Lakers are now debating their future rather than focusing on the present.

Westbrook is obviously not the answer. Does the team move on from his hefty $40 million price tag?

Do they wait and see on Davis’s health or go ahead and begin a rebuild?

The franchise appears to be at a crossroads despite being just a season removed from an NBA title.

What is certain, though, is this current team’s inability to produce on the floor. And the frustration has now gotten to one of the greatest Lakers to ever play the game.

James Worthy Reacts To Lakers’ Latest Loss

It’s one thing for TV personalities like Skip Bayless to berate the team and players for their poor play. It’s another to have one of the best players in franchise history to call this a lost season.

That’s just what happened after Wednesday’s loss to the Rockets, though.

Three-time NBA champion James Worthy reacted to the Lakers’ latest defeat, saying the team lacks the tenacity to win.

Worthy doesn’t see Los Angeles crawling out of this hole. There is no belief in what they’re doing on the floor. The failure to meet expectations has finally broken the team.

Flat out, he says the Lakers just “can’t win.”

Worthy knows a thing or two about winning. He’s one of the 50 greatest players in the history of the league. He’s a Finals MVP. He’s a seven-time All-Star.

So when he says that the Lakers should be better, it’s not something to take lightly.

Worthy isn’t saying that LA should be competing for the top seed, but they should be safely in the playoff picture. Instead, a play-in situation likely looms.

Worthy believes that LeBron and Co. have thrown in the towel knowing they won’t be able to compete with the Suns and Warriors of the world. Much of the fanbase believes the same.
