All good things come to an end. After starting 5-0 with our NBA Playoff Locks, we suffered our first loss of the postseason after the Heat upset the Bucks yet again in Game 2 of their series on Wednesday night. A 5-1 record isn’t all that bad, and a 6-1 record is even better, which is what we’re striving for with tonight’s pick as the Lakers and Rockets square off in Game 1 of their series.
The Pick: Rockets +6
Tip-Off: 9:00 PM EST
This series should be a fun one with LeBron James and Anthony Davis going up against Russell Westbrook and James Harden. The Lakers come into this one rested while the Rockets are just two ways removed from taking care of the Thunder in a Game 7.
I think the big-time names in this series are going to get their’s and fill up the stat sheet. I’m not sure the Rockets have a gameplan to stop AD and I don’t think the Lakers have enough power to slow down Houston’s guard play with Harden and Westbrook.
Looking back at their matchups during the regular season, Houston got the best of Los Angeles two of the three times they met up. In those three matchups, the Lakers had no answer for Harden or Westbrook and I don’t think much has changed since the regular season in terms of stopping these two.
With that being the case, six points is a lot to be giving up to a Houston team that should enter this contest with some confidence not only from winning its last series in dramatic fashion but besting the Lakers more often than not in the regular season. We’re going with the Rockets +6.
