After famously never starring in sequels, Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington is back as Robert McCall for the third and final time in The Equalizer 3, which just dropped its first trailer ahead of its September 1 release.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua — who helmed the previous two films in the franchise — The Equalizer 3 marks the first time that Washington has ever appeared in a trilogy film.

You can check out the official trailer for the film below.

Here is the official synopsis for The Equalizer 3, via Sony Pictures:

Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.

In addition to Washington, The Equalizer 3 stars Sonia Ammar, Remo Girone, Andrea Dodero, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Andrea Scarduzio, Salvatore Ruocco, Daniele Perrone, Gaia Scodellaro, and Dakota Fanning, which marks the first time the pair are acting together in a film since 2004’s cult classic hit Man on Fire.

In addition to The Equalizer 3, Washington is also currently working on an adaptation of the August Wilson play The Piano Lesson, albeit only as a producer. The Piano Lesson will star Denzel’s son John David Washington alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Danielle Deadwyler, Michael Potts, and Corey Hawkins. Washington previously starred and directed in 2016’s Fences, which was also an adaptation of a Wilson play.

Washington also recently signed on to star alongside Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan in Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated sequel to Gladiator.

Nashville, Tennessee

A new arrival to Nashville’s hip Lower Broad district, The Valentine is an upscale saloon that shakes things up with a Prohibition theme. HandleBar

Austin, Texas

Known as the “adult wonderland,” HandleBar is funky, serious about its bar drinks, and all about the mustache. What isn’t random are the cheap, strong drinks, the pleasant vibe, and the stunning views.

Boston

Vast city views paint the background at Rooftop@Revere on the top of Boston’s Revere Hotel. The sleek and stylish open-air lounge is sprawling, with plenty of space between tables.
