Ryan Garcia might have to pay a steep price for coming in overweight for their fight.
Garcia and Haney were scheduled to fight at 140 pounds for Haney’s WBC championship belt on Saturday night.
Before the fight, Haney and Garcia shook on a bet stipulating that whoever comes in overweight would have to pay $500K per pound if they come in over the 140-pound limit at the weigh-ins.
Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney bet 500k for every lb they are over the 140lbs limit in the weigh in tomorrow!!! #GarciaHaney #boxing @RyanGarcia @Realdevinhaney pic.twitter.com/WLcyTf99xp

Unfortunately for Garcia, he came in 3 pounds overweight and now owes Haney $1.5 million.
Ryan 3 pounds over..

Veteran boxing journalist Dan Rafael confirmed Garcia failed to make weight, and the two sides are negotiating in hopes the fight doesn’t get canceled.
Ryan Garcia is indeed waaaay overweight for the fight. He scales 143.2 pounds, per source in the room. He will not be eligible to win the WBC 140 title. Sides negotiating how to move forward. Absolute disaster and absolutely expected. #boxing #HaneyGarcia

Update: Haney claims Garcia honored their bet and has paid the $1.5 million owed.
Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia WILL still go ahead tomorrow night, despite Garcia coming in 3.2lbs overweight, as the camps have agreed a deal. Haney has said that Garcia honoured their press conference bet and will pay him $500,000 per pound overweight (a total of $1.5million).
