LSU infielder Michael Braswell was the recipient of social media slander from fans of his former school this week. He took the trash talk personally!
The slugger quieted those doubters with one swing of the bat in his most recent matchup as he got his team on the board early in the SEC Tournament.
Braswell is thriving on the hate!Prior to arriving in Baton Rouge, the shortstop played his freshman and sophomore seasons at South Carolina. A top-ranked prospect in his high school class, he turned down a chance at the MLB in order to play in the Southeastern Conference.
In Year 1, he earned Freshman All-Conference honors, making 54 starts and hitting .284 with a pair of home runs. That production dipped in Year 2 when he made 37 starts and hit just .261.
Seeing his role shrink as a sophomore, he opted to transfer in the offseason.
LSU is 7-14 in conference play this year and all I can think about is that time Michael Braswell said the reason he left South Carolina was to play shortstop “at a winning program.” pic.twitter.com/8zwYWAIQcu

The infielder chose defending national champion LSU as his next landing spot, filling in nicely at the top of the Tigers order. This season, he’s hitting a career-high .294, having been on an absolute tear to end the year.
He entered the SEC Tournament riding a seven-game hitting streak, which he continued in the Tigers’ opener vs. 11th-ranked Georgia.
Michael Braswell racked up three hits, scored two runs, and knocked in an RBI as LSU took the Bulldogs down, 9-1. He then began landing hate from fans of his former school as those in Baton Rouge praised his performance.
Wanna know how bad LSU baseball is this year?
LSU fans are trying to chirp about Braswell being good when, in fact, he is still bad, and they wanted him off the team a month ago.

Michael Braswell bit back!
In a now deleted post, he chirped back at his haters with a simple message: “Shut up!”

While that post is now gone, Braswell’s determination to make South Carolina fans eat their words is not!
He emphatically let everyone know how he felt about the online slander in his first at-bat on Wednesday.

A leadoff home run got the Tigers on the board early while effectively quieting any naysayers. He took it personally, and it showed!
Braswell added an RBI later in the game to put LSU up 2-0 on second-ranked Kentucky as the team looks to lock down a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
