The Brooklyn Nets are nothing sort of a complete and utter shitshow at the moment. And that doesn’t even have a thing to do with Brooklyn’s current 2-5 record and a recent loss to the lowly Indiana Pacers.
Brooklyn’s troubles go all the way back to the 2021-22 NBA season when star guard Kyrie Irving refused to get vaccinated, causing turmoil within the team.
Brooklyn then traded former league MVP James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers for the even-more polarizing Ben Simmons.Simmons then sat out the rest of the year and the Nets were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics. That was merely the start.
The sweep and disaster sequence leading up to it led to both Irving and superstar forward Kevin Durant asking for a trade. Durant eventually gave Nets brass an ultimatum: choose him or coach Steve Nash. Nets owner Joe Tsai called Durant’s bluff and eventually he, Irving and Nash all returned to Brooklyn.
But wait, there’s more!
Simmons eventually came back into the fold. But he still hasn’t learned to shoot and looks like a total disaster on the court. Couple that with Irving’s extremely anti-semitic behavior that he refuses to acknowledge and what you get is a Brooklyn franchise in turmoil.
Fans Clown Nets Over Job Listing For PR Role After Hiring Ime Udoka
Did the Nets try to fix any of this? Of course not!
Instead, it appears they’re doubling down. Brooklyn fired Nash, who appeared cool with the decision, on Tuesday. And they look set to hire disgraced former Celtics coach Ime Udoka. Udoka, of course, was suspended by the Celtics for the entire season over an improper relationship with a member of the team’s staff.
Between Durant and Simmons, Irving, and now Udoka, the Nets are a public relations disaster. And they seem to know it as well!

Hilariously, Brooklyn currently has a job opening for public relations coordinator (get those resumes in!). Basketball fans couldn’t believe the irony.

Hopefully whoever gets the job asks for a higher salary than what’s offered, because they’re going to earn it.
