Applebee’s Is Bringing Back The Dollarita And The World May Not Be Ready

In 2017, the folks at Applebee’s released the “Dollarita” on an unsuspecting world, but if you’ve wanted to buy an adult beverage for $1 while eatin’ good in the neighborhood over the past few years, you’ve been out of luck. However, that’s no longer the case thanks to a recent development.

The first Applebee’s location opened in Atlanta in 1980 and quickly transformed into a nationwide chain of franchises known for kitschy decor and crowd-pleasing food offerings I think most people would agree could be described as “good enough.”

When I was in college, my friends and I would routinely take advantage of the half-priced appetizers a location near campus offered after 9 P.M. on Thursdays, a late-night tradition we’d eventually dub “HPAs and IPAs” thanks to the beers that probably helped them turned a profit.

Alcohol has always been a central part of Applebee’s business model, but for the bulk of its existence, it hasn’t exactly been the first spot most people think of when listing the best places to get their drink on.

However, that all changed when the “Dollarita” (an obviously watered-down libation that will still only set you back a buck) ushered in a new era that saw the chain roll out a steady stream of reasonably priced beverages before the pandemic essentially brought the fun to an end.

Thankfully, Applebee’s recently announced its decision to resurrect the Dollarita, which made its grand return on October 1st and will supposedly remain on the menu for the rest of the month (although there is a chance it could end up hanging around for a bit longer based on the reception).

You won’t have to head to the restaurant at a particular time to grab yourself a Dollarita, and while Applebee’s obviously has the right to refuse service to anyone who gets a bit too lit, there’s also no stated limit when it comes to how many you can order over the course of your visit.

I wish everyone (and their livers) the best of luck.
