For the third year in a row, Major League Baseball is rolling out some alternate City Connect uniforms for a handful of teams.
Introduced in 2021, the MLB City Connect uniforms created by Nike have been praised in cities like Chicago for the White Sox and in Houston with the Astros.
Seven teams have received these uniforms each of the past two years. The Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Dodgers, Marlins and Giants got them in year one. The Rockies, Astros, Royals, Angels, Brewers, Padres and Nationals unveiled theirs in year two.
In 2023, the Braves, Rangers, Mariners, Reds, Orioles and Pirates will be wearing their versions of the City Connect uniforms.
So far this year, Atlanta and Texas are the only teams to have revealed what their City Connect fits will look like.
Most fans appeared to really like the Braves uniforms which are a callback to the 1974 uniforms worn by Hank Aaron when he broke Babe Ruth’s all time home run record.

The Texas Rangers’ City Connect uniforms, which were revealed by the team on Monday were not nearly as well received.
The uniforms, which will be worn by the Rangers for every Friday home game this season, were widely panned by baseball fans on Twitter.

“Multiple people get paid MULTIPLE 6 figures annually to sit in a room & consciously make decisions like this,”
Nike: "So Rangers, what are ya'll feeling for these City Connects?"
Rangers: "Make it so that no one will ever want these over any throwback or current jersey."
Nike: "Say less."

According to the team website, “Our City Connect uniform celebrates the origin story of the Rangers and the Texas spirit that brought Dallas and Fort Worth together in Arlington.
“Influenced by the gothic lettering of the Dallas Eagles, our logo includes a spur as a tribute to the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs. This team connected the two rival cities to play baseball in Arlington and paved the way for the Rangers.”
The best part might be the “peagle.” Yes, that creature on the jerseys is being called a “peagle” by the team.
If you’re wondering what a “peagle” is, well, it is “a mythical creature inspired by blending the mascots of the Dallas Eagles and Fort Worth Panthers, created in the style of the Eagles.”
The slogan on the uniforms, “Dream the Big Dream,” is “a sentiment of Arlington mayor Tom Vandergriff, whose bold vision and tireless efforts to bring an MLB team to this region helped to connect Dallas and Fort Worth in Arlington.”
None of those explanation helped.
The breakdown doesn't make it look better.

Oh well, MLB still has the Mariners, Reds, Orioles and Pirates City Connect uniforms left to get it right this season.
