College’s Free Tuition FG Contest Had Hilarious Final Result After Series Of Awful Attempts

Texas State University held a halftime FG contest at its latest football game, and it ended with the funniest final result. The competition was moved up 12 yards after the first few contestants provided wayward attempts.

Three students were selected at random to give their best kicking efforts during the midway break of the Bobcats’ matchup with Georgia Southern.

All three missed their initial tries.

The university, however, was on a mission to give away that winning prize.

As laid out in the contest guidelines, should the first three participants miss, students would be able to line up after the game until some finally made a FG.

Not explained in those rules was the fact that the competition would be made easier if the halftime tries went particularly poorly.

And they would.

The first few field goals hardly got off the ground. After seeing those initial attempts fail to even make it past the 10-yard line, distance was shortened from 35 yards to 23 yards as a way of finding a winner more quickly.

The decision worked as planned as the first 23-yard kick found its way through the uprights.

Fans were quick to react.

One predicted an incoming controversy, jokingly saying, “I smell a lawsuit.”

Someone else noted that the winning kick likely would’ve been good from the original 35-yard mark.

“That would have been good from 40,” the poster wrote.

While the last FG was impressive, and the contest was held for an awesome cause, the fact that officials had to shorten the distance to find a winner is the funniest possible outcome.
