By now, we’ve all heard of the disastrous season from the North Carolina Men’s Basketball team. The Tar Heels were the top-ranked team in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll coming into the year.
And, how could they not be? North Carolina returned four starters and three preseason All-Americans from their 2021-2022 team that famously ended Duke Coach Mike Kryzewski’s career at Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium with a loss with Duke as double-digit favorites, and his career overall when the Heels beat Duke in the final four 81-77, the first matchup of the two rivals ever in the NCAA Tournament.
The backcourt of Caleb Love and RJ Davis got red-hot at the end of last season and made some truly incredible shots in last year’s postseason.

But, they were simply awful this year. North Carolina was a dismal 20-13, a terrible record when you consider they played in the piss-poor ACC. And, they missed the NCAA Tournament, making history as the first preseason number-one team to ever miss the tournament. And, they turned down the NIT, a controversial choice.
Part of the problem was, frankly, the terrible play of Caleb Love. Love shot just 38% from the field this year and only had 95 assists to 80 turnovers, a terrible ratio for a point guard. And, now, he’s transferring.

Yeah, North Carolina fans aren’t too sad about this one.
Good riddance in 3 years dude had a handful of good moments. He was brick city USA, a turnover machine, lazy on defense, and pouted at the 1st sign of adversity. Oh and the worst shot selection I’ve ever seen by a UNC player in history.

The highs were high, but the lows were very low.
Carolina did add a player on Monday, though, as they added one of the most productive transfers in the country.

North Carolina coach Hubert Davis still has a lot of work to do.
